Jan Mustafa

Jan was an incredibly happy person – she’d help anyone. If she had a fiver in her pocket she’d give it to you and she’d never think twice.

Her kids were everything to her – she was a really hardworking mum. Jan was a great dancer; she used to teach all the local kids street dance. And she loved music. She went to college and did fashion design – she used to go to the market every Saturday before going clubbing. By the evening she’d have transformed what she bought; so many rips and buttons you didn’t recognise it – she was very creative.

In her home as well, she was very house proud. Jan’s voice was paper and pen – she kept diaries, which we found when she passed. One powerful thing she said in the diaries was this; always speak out. Never stay silent. Jan wanted to help people. Helping others will be Jan’s legacy.
